Considering that Smash Wii U's online services can be very laggy with the controls, I never even bothered playing the Tourney game mode. Nothing of value will be lost.

Does go to show the Wii U is on it's way out, though. I hope they keep Mario Kart 8's full features for a while longer.

Where to buy good gamecube controllers? Thread starter fansmashtic Start date Oct 24, Joined Oct 24, Messages 2. Sorry if im posting in the wrong spot. My friends and I have been waiting for the new Smash Bros Ultimate to come out, and while we wait, we have been playing Melee on Dolphin and have been using PS4 controllers.

I've heard that nothing really compares to a classic gamecube controller and I have considered buying one and the maylfash gamecube controller adapter to play melee with and hopefully use it as well with Smash Ultimate. But the gamecube controller listed on this site is a bit costly and a lot of controllers I had seen were too cheap to be believable, and the reviews were also negative towards the quality of the controller.

Pauer The Pauerful Moderator. Oct 24, You are right about the cheap controllers you find on Amazon. Those are 3rd party controller meaning they're not made by Nintendo and they're all quite bad compared to the official ones made by Nintendo. You can distinguish them by the Nintendo GameCube logo on the top of them. You can't really get brand new official GameCube controllers for a reasonable price right now until the new ones come out.

I'd recommend looking on ebay or your local Craigslist for a used official controller in decent condition. If you're not sure how to determine the condition signs of wear, dirt, analog stick with the rubber worn offbuying a smash 4 edition controller guarantees that the controller isn't much older than a couple years so the condition usually can't be too bad.The GameCube controller is the standard game controller for the GameCube home video game console.

It was also re-released on the international launch of Super Smash Bros. Released alongside the GameCube console, the standard GameCube controller has a wing grip design. This controller was bundled with all new GameCube systems throughout the console's life cycle and was also available separately.

The standard GameCube controller provides haptic feedback by way of a built-in rumble motor rather than using an external Rumble Pak add-on like the Nintendo 64 controller. Also unlike its predecessor, this controller does not feature any expansion capabilities. The primary analog stick is on the left, with the D-pad below it.

The four face buttons are on the right of the controller a large green "A" button in the center, a smaller red "B" button to its bottom left and two kidney -shaped buttons; "X" to the right and a "Y" to the top with a yellow "C" stick below those.

On the "shoulders" of the controller there are two analog triggers marked "L" and "R," as well as one digital button marked "Z" which sits above the "R" trigger. The "L" and "R" triggers feature both analog and digital capabilities. Each of these behaves as a typical analog trigger until fully depressed, at which point the button "clicks" to register an additional digital signal.

This method effectively serves to provide two functions per button without actually adding two separate physical buttons. The GameCube controller was sold in several different colors over the console's lifespan. Standard colors included "Indigo" dark navy blue"Jet Black", and "Platinum" Silver [2]which were bundled with their respective colored GameCube consoles and sold separately in many countries.

Club Nintendo controllers could be purchased for points each and designs included "Mario" red top and blue bottom[3] "Luigi" green top and blue bottom[4] "Wario" yellow top and purple bottom [5] and a "Club Nintendo" controller white top and light blue bottom. Additionally, a number of limited edition GameCube consoles have been released which included matching controllers. The WaveBird Wireless Controller is a radio frequency -based wireless controller based on the same design as the standard controller.

It communicates with the GameCube system wirelessly through a receiver dongle connected to one of the system's controller ports. It is powered by two AA batteries.

As a power-conservation measure, the WaveBird lacks the rumble function of the standard controller. The WaveBird came in two colors, grey and silver Platinum. The controller can be used for pay-per-play access to select GameCube titles. In addition to the standard GameCube controller inputs, the LodgeNet controller features six additional buttons which are used to control the on-screen game selection interface.

HANDS ON! Super Smash Bros. ULTIMATE GAMECUBE Controllers

The controller cannot be used on regular home systems. While unlicensed GameCube Controllers are constantly on the market from third party manufacturers such as Old Skool and Mad Catz though the latter has produced products that are officially licensed by Nintendothey are criticized for generally being made of lower quality products than Nintendo's official GameCube controllers.

The official controllers have become scarce at retailers, as an increased demand of the controller started due to the Wii's backward compatibility with GameCube games and the fact that several Wii games support the controller as a primary method of control.

In response to the regained popularity, Nintendo decided to re-launch the GameCube controller. These relaunched models of the GameCube have a 3-meter wire cord, which is longer than the original models, which had a 2-meter wire cord. These relaunched models also lack the metal braces inserted inside the controller's triggers to help push the triggers down, something which the manufactured GameCube controllers do have.Your question may be answered by sellers, manufacturers, or customers who purchased this item, who are all part of the Amazon community.
